Research is fundamental to the Gallery, informing everything from acquisitions, exhibition displays, learning programs and other day-to-day activities. It ensures the highest quality of scholarship is applied when considering the Gallery’s own collection, including our commitment to providing detailed biographical information of the individuals represented in the collection.
Research and development also provide the opportunity for further exploration into the broader field of portraiture, and how contemporary portraiture extends the boundaries of the traditional art form.
There is the opportunity for donors to support curatorial research, staff travel, or guest curators for special projects.
