Wake from your winter hibernation to celebrate Children’s Week and Canberra’s spring season at the National Portrait Gallery’s free Spring Festival.
Krysia Kitch, Education and Access Manager at the Gallery, is thrilled with the line-up of entertainment and events.
‘The festival’s theme is Sea and Sky, so what better way to celebrate that than with kite making and sand sculpting,’ said Krysia.
‘There will be many other creative activities too—visitors can make a badge based on the Bogong moth migration, draw while listening to a percussion duo or make a musical instrument to simulate the sounds of spring. It’s going to be a fun-filled day out!’
There will be plenty of great photo opportunities too. Watch a man and his horse emerge from the sand heap as Sand In Your Eyes’ champion sculptor Den Massoud crafts a portrait from the Gallery’s collection.
The Spring Festival at the Portrait Gallery is on Sunday 28 October from 11am to 3pm. All ages and abilities are welcome. Spring Festival is made possible with funds donated by Tim Fairfax AC.
