Kristin Headlam, born in Launceston, completed a BA at the University of Melbourne in the 1970s and studied painting at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1980-1981. After four years overseas, during which she began to exhibit her work, she returned to Australia where she has since exhibited at Charles Nodrum Gallery, Melbourne, Bett Gallery, Hobart, Tony Palmer Gallery, Sydney and Heiser Gallery, Brisbane. In 1991 she won the Conrad Jupiters Acquisitive Art Prize and in 2000 she took out the Doug Moran Prize with a painting of herself in bed with two cats and a dog (that work is now in the collection of Tweed Regional Art Gallery). Her etchings and paintings are variously included in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Victoria, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and several regional galleries.
