Dayannah is a proud young Gomeroi/Kamilaroi woman from Moree, New South Wales. Challenging contemporary narratives of victimhood, poverty and oppression, Dayannah is one of several collaborators on my long-term project You’ll Know It When You Feel It. I have spent over a decade creating image-based collaborative works to amplify the lived experiences of women in my life, as they grapple with the complexities and intergenerational cycle of social disadvantage in Australia. Dayannah has a story, a story of pain and triumph, a story that she will share in her own time.
