Educator Advisory Group

Help Shape the Future of Education at the National Portrait Gallery

The National Portrait Gallery is thrilled to invite applications for our newly established Educator Advisory Group. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact, helping shape innovative educational programs that connect art, storytelling, and learning for students across Australia.

What You’ll Do

As a member of the Educator Advisory Group, you’ll:

  • Shape the Future: Provide insights to improve and enhance the Gallery’s digital and online educational programming.
  • Bridge Art and Learning: Offer guidance on aligning programs with curriculum requirements and developing professional learning opportunities for teachers.
  • Advocate for Education: Support and champion the Gallery’s educational initiatives to ensure they inspire and engage.

What’s In It for You?

  • Honorarium: Receive $300–$500 per meeting for your contributions.
  • Collaboration: Work with like-minded educators and influence national educational practices.
  • Impact: Contribute to the Gallery’s educational vision over a three-year term (with annual reviews).

What’s Involved

  • Participate in 4–6 meetings per year (via video conference), each lasting approximately two hours.

Who Should Apply

We welcome applications from educators across Australia, with a particular focus on Emerging, First Nations, and Ability Educators, to ensure diverse perspectives shape our programs.

Your cover letter could include:

  • An experience you’ve had with education in National Cultural Institutions.
  • Contributions to curriculum development or educational program planning.
  • Involvement with professional associations, curriculum authorities, or educational organizations.
  • Unique perspectives or experiences you’ll bring to the group.
