Mossy and I met back in art school, and her first exploration of performative movement was during our early experimentations – it was a pivotal moment in Mossy’s coming into womanhood. I have since watched her flourish both on stage and through our ongoing collaborations. I have been given the privilege of translating her spoken word poem into a digital portrait, one which celebrates our friendship and past endeavours. It is an opportunity to demystify and humanise the concept of a trans woman, and show the complexity of her identity – be it objectified, demonised, hyper-sexualised – in all of her vulnerability, beauty and strength.
