This subject told me of his love affair with a French woman that spanned decades. He spent endless nights waiting until midnight at the only long distance call centre in Beijing in order to call her. Their love could never be. The building still exists but now has a completely different purpose.
This subject’s best friend is her dog, Yiyi, who she walks three times a day in parks around her house. She asked me to capture one of their night walks, and the moment of intimacy they share when Yiyi has finished running around the park and comes back to sit on the grass with her and rest.
This subject wanted to recapture the period when he first moved to Beijing and had no friends or job. Every night he would stand on a bridge near his house, get drunk, watch traffic pass and wonder what to do with his life.
