Andrew Maccoll (b. 1978) is a photographer and creative director. Born into an artistic family (his father is a press photographer and his mother a documentary producer) he worked as a darkroom printing assistant while studying for his degree in Visual Arts in Photography at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. He initially worked as a web and print designer before becoming a photographer for News Ltd. Since 2006 he has worked on campaigns for clients including Apple, IBM, Dior, NBC, Everlast, Puma and David Jones. Maccoll has produced photographic portraits of international and Australian notables such as Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro, Matt Damon, P!NK, Seth Rogen, Michael Klim and Nick Cave. The National Portrait Gallery has his photographs of Mick Molloy, Mick Fanning and Eric Bana. He has twice been a finalist at the Hasselblad Masters Awards. Maccoll notes of his work: 'If I can take myself out of the equation and leave just this emotional connection between people viewing my images and the subject then I have been successful.'
