oil on canvas (frame: 100.0 cm x 59.5 cm, support: 96.5 cm x 56.0 cm)

Paul Boston (b. 1952), an abstract artist, graduated from art school in Melbourne in 1972. In the 1970s he travelled broadly through South East Asia and developed a commitment to Zen philosophy that has nourished his art ever since. It is sometimes observed that Boston’s works ‘never stop moving, folding and unfolding’; requiring time and attention, they encourage and reward contemplation. The recipient of the McCaughey Prize in 1991, since 1993 Boston has exhibited at Niagara Galleries. His work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
