Greg Norman AO (b. 1955), golfer, spent 331 weeks as the world's number-one ranked player in the 1980s and 1990s. Norman turned professional in 1976 and joined the European tour in 1977; by 1982 he was the leading European money winner. He won the first of his five Australian Opens in 1980 and was the PGA leading money winner in 1986, 1990 and 1995. Although he is renowned for not-quite-winning, in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1996 and 1997 he finished on top of the world golf rankings; he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001. Still widely regarded as the most charismatic figure on the international circuit, Norman has a tremendous range of business ventures and partnerships under his Great White Shark Enterprises umbrella, including golf course design, residential development, apparel and Greg Norman Signature Wagyu beef. His autobiography, The Way of the Shark, was released in 2006.
