Joy Warren OAM (1922-2015), gallerist, was the owner-director of Canberra’s Solander Gallery from 1974. The gallery played a pivotal role in introducing the work of important Australian painters and sculptors to the capital. Warren represented a very substantial cross-section of artists from around Australia, including Andrew Sibley. While proprietor of the gallery, she was an arts journalist, acted with the Canberra Repertory Society, ran an arts-related public relations business, and played a prominent part in raising funds for the arts in Canberra. She continued to advise on investment in art until shortly before her death.
