Shorty Jangala Robertson (c. 1930-2014) a Warlukurlangu artist was from Yuendumu in the Northern Territory. He lived by hunting and gathering with his extended Warlpiri family; separated from his mother during the war, he was reunited with her when she walked hundreds of miles on foot to bring him back to his birthplace northwest of Yuendumu. After working for various enterprises in the area around his birthplace he settled in Yuendumu in 1967. He did not paint until late in his life, but soon after became a member of the Warlukurlangu Cooperative. His widow, Lady Nungarrayi Robertson, is also an artist. After a single group exhibition at the Gabrielle Pizzi gallery in 2002 he held his first solo show in November 2003 at the Melbourne's Alcaston Gallery. His work is represented in state and national collections including AGNSW, NGA and NGV.
