Kate Fitzpatrick (b. 1947) is an actor and writer. Perth-born, Adelaide-raised Fitzpatrick graduated from NIDA in 1967. During the 1970s she was in the original Australian stage production of The Rocky Horror Show and appeared in plays including The Legend of King O’Malley and Patrick White’s The Season at Sarsaparilla (1976) and Big Toys (1977). Her film roles included The Removalists (1975), and over the same decade she worked on Australian television series including Certain Women, Boney, Division Four and Homicide. Over the past ten years she has appeared on television in Something in the Air (2000–2002) Neighbours (2005–2006) and Packed to the Rafters (2008–2009). Fitzpatrick wrote a column in the Sydney Morning Herald in the early 1980s, and in the summer of 1983-1984 was a cricket commentator on the Nine Network. Her Name dropping: An incomplete memoir, detailing her diverse dealings with such figures as Tom Hughes, Murray Gleeson, Kerry Packer, Sam Neill and Jeremy Irons, was published in 2004. Airmail, letters between Fitzpatrick, her mother and her sister, followed in 2005.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s Kate Fitzpatrick and William Yang were both part of Patrick White’s circle, which encompassed actor Kerry Walker, director Jim Sharman and designer Luciana Arrighi.
