Tim Georgeson is a Sydney-based photojournalist who has worked since 1997 on documentary projects relating to culture, political and social/environmental issues. Since 2003, he says, he has been exploring the 'depths and undercurrents of modern Western society'. He has produced series of photographs of Kosovo gypsies in Montenegro, Afghan refugees, Muslims in New York and circus performers. His work has appeared in a host of international magazines including National Geographic, Newsweek, Time, New York Times Traveler, Paris Match, Rolling Stone, Stern and The New Yorker. His awards include second prize for portraits in the World Press Photo exhibitions of 2000 and 2001, the National Geographic Award for Best International Feature for Circus (2003), Best European Print Advertising Campaign (2005), Finalist in the British Advertising Awards (2007) and an award from the World Wildlife Fund for the Campaign Against Global Warming. His recent projects include a group exhibition at the Foam Gallery, Amsterdam, and Blood: or A Long Weekend with my Wife's Family at Stills Gallery (2007), which is currently due for release as a monograph.
