Nigel Boonham is a British sculptor. He studied under John Ravera from 1973-1977 and later worked in the studio of sculptor Oscar Nemon. He exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in the mid-seventies, and has held regular exhibitions ever since with the Society of Portrait Sculptors. Since the late 1970s he has worked steadily on commissions, which have included Sir Neville Cardus; John McEnroe; Lord Runcie, Archibishop of Canterbury; and Diana, Princess of Wales. His works are held in many British collections including the National Portrait Gallery, which owns his bronzes of surgeon and scholar Sir Geoffrey Keynes (1976) and arts administrator Peter Jonas (1993). Recently the UK city of Newcastle has unveiled his ten-foot statue of former Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Basil Hume, which echoes the larger-than-life Archbishop Daniel Mannix Monument he made for St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne (1997-8).
