Laurence Cox AO (b. 1938), a director of the Australian Stock Exchange from its inception in 1987 and its chairman from 1989 to 1994, was an executive director of Macquarie Group Limited from 1996 to 2009; chairman of the Transurban Group from 1996 to 2007 and chairman of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute from 1994 to 2009. He was a non-executive director of OneSteel Limited from 2007 to 2010; he was director of Smorgon Steel Group Ltd from 1998 to 2007; was a director of Genetic Health Services Victoria Ltd from 1986 to 2009; was executive chairman of the Potter Warburg Group of Companies in Australia from 1991 to 1995 and a director of SG Warburg Securities of London from 1986 to 1995. Since 2011 he has been chair of the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
