Ferdinand Jean Joubert was a photographer and engraver. Born in Paris, Joubert studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and began working as an engraver around 1830. In Paris, he exhibited at the Salon and his work was also shown at the Royal Academy during his period of residency in London. His work included portraits and engravings of paintings by artists such as Van Dyck, as well as book illustrations and engraved designs for stamps and coins. A number of his carte de visite photographs are held by the National Portrait Gallery, London.
