Douglas Thompson (b. 1932) was born in Stanthorpe, QLD and served in the RAAF as a photographer and photography teacher between 1950 and 1956. After working in London, Thompson moved to Sydney specialising in commercial photography in the arts and crafts sector; he worked on commission for the Art Gallery of New South Wales. His work appeared in numerous international publications. The National Portrait Gallery has his photographs of Peter Rushforth, Les Blakebrough, Col Levy and Peter Travis.
