Douglas Gimesy, conservation and wildlife photographer, graduated in zoology and microbiology before gaining master’s degrees in both bioethics and environment. After working in healthcare marketing and serving on the board of Environment Victoria, he turned to professional communication consultancy and a focus on photography. His photographs have appeared in National Geographic, BBC Wildlife Magazine, the New York Times and Australian Geographic and have been commissioned by the Australian Conservation Foundation, Environment Victoria and Animals Australia amongst others. He has been to the southern polar region five times. An associate fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, Gimesy has been a finalist or award winner in many photographic prizes, including the National Photographic Portrait Prize of 2018.
