Darrell Sibosado is a Bard man of the Lombadina Community, in the West Kimberley region of Western Australia. He is a practising artist who combines the traditional Riji (pearl shell) designs of the Bard people with a contemporary art practice. Formerly a student of the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Association, he undertook a producers' cadetship at Film Australia and the ABC where he was mentored by Michael Riley. Sibosado also worked with Riley on his 1991 film Poison and appears in Riley's photographic series Sacrifice (1992), which was staged in Sibosado's backyard in Darlinghurst. In Sydney he worked as an Artist Development Manager at Koori Radio, Redfern and as Festival Producer for the Yabun Festival. After moving back home, Sibosado became the Tourism Manager at Lombadina Aboriginal Corporation. He is also a representative for Ardi Indigenous Tourism Operators Inc and a board member of the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council. In 2015 he was the producer of the Essence of Ardi Festival at Lombadina. As an artist, Sibosado has been commissioned by organisations such as the Australia Council for the Arts and the Charles Perkins Foundation, and has work in private collections.
