National Photographic Portrait Prize 2014 Finalist
Minika Peerboom is in her late seventies. She migrated to Australia from Holland when she was forty. Minika came to Canberra and worked as maths teacher for many years. Her style of dress tells the story of one of her great passions in life, horse riding. She owns a small pony that is aged well beyond its expiry but she is dedicated and rides him every week. Minika lives a single life and keeps her mind and body active by studying foreign languages, solving jigsaw puzzles and volunteering for the Canberra community.
