National Photographic Portrait Prize 2009 Finalist
I first met Bruce as an interviewee for the historical documentary series First Australians. We spent several days together and his powerful language and views on the history of Aboriginal Australia really shook me. He was empowered by his discovery, in his twenties, of his own Indigenous heritage.
Bruce Pascoe has written over twenty books including the novel Bloke and the history Convincing Ground. He has a Kulin heritage and is a member of the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages. He lives at Gipsy Point, East Gippsland, has two children and is finding it difficult to retire from cricket.
