'Mel' is part of a trans-media documentary project I am working on which tells the stories of eight lesbians who experienced living in Queensland during the Joh Bjelke-Petersen Government, and how they interpret that experience to have contributed to who they are today. Mel is retired and lives in Brisbane. She spends her time painting, volunteering and swimming in the sea. In her twenties she took a knife to a bloke who was roughing up her girlfriend. Fortunately, no-one was hurt.
