Megan Wilding as Blackie Blackie Brown: Traditional Owner of Death, 2019

I first saw Megan Wilding performing at the Sydney Theatre as Blackie Blackie Brown: The Traditional Owner of Death. It was surreal, hilarious and also very moving. She played a crazy, violent, avenging Aboriginal superhero. I loved her performance and her wonderful, striking costume, featuring blue hair and hot pink jacket. Wilding has since starred – to critical acclaim – in many major productions. It was great to have her pose for me for this portrait, and to get to know her. She is an extremely talented actor and writer, and … a fascinating person!
