Our task for this clay relief was to form a face using a front and a side profile. We based our reliefs on some of Picasso's art works, such as The Sailor. We did this by getting a friend to pose to the side and then the front for us, while we drew what we saw on paper. My face does not look like one person in particular, as I had three friends pose for me. After we got the profiles on paper, we put the faces together to form one face. We were restricted to only two colours as well as black and white, and the clay could be at only four different levels. This task was very enjoyable, but at the same time rather challenging as it was hard to get an even underglaze. The final product is stylised and rather abstract, but still recognisable as a face.
