synthetic polymer paint on canvas
In Reflective identity: William I portrayed my father (William Quinn) at different stages of his life. I used various cameras (35mm, Polaroid and digital) as visual metaphors within each painting to signify particular periods of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. As my father changes from a young boy to a man, the technology evolves as well. In a subversion of this idea, the young boy is represented by the old camera. I wanted to reflect conceptually on my father's life, as well as explore the camera as a physically reflective device.
