Year 12, St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School Qld
Mixed media
This work represents how so many of the things in my life that keep me feeling safe and secure are tenuous. I was inspired by the WB Yeats poem 'He wishes for the cloths of heaven'. I photographed pictures I made of myself using organza and waxed paper spilling out of a thin and fragile glass vessel (symbolising the mortal body). I recreated 'heaven's embroidered cloths' by sewing more photographs of myself on one photograph using golden threads. I wanted to recreate and embrace in my work the 'blue and dim and the dark cloths' from the poem.
