National Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 Finalist
This photograph forms part of a series of portraits of residents of public housing in Melbourne. It is my hope that the photographs will enable the viewer to relate to the situation of those depicted, and help in breaking down barriers. Robert is one of many single parents living in public housing, struggling to raise a family and make ends meet. I favour a documentary style approach, making maximum use of the available light, and tending to make only minor adjustments to images in post production.
The NPPP exhibition is selected from a national field of entries. The annual exhibition, now in its fourth year, reflects the distinctive vision of Australia's aspiring and professional portrait photographers and the unique nature of their subjects.
