Balancing Act, 2019

Vincent Fantauzzo

Darling Portrait Prize 2020 Finalist

Wayne Blair's life has always been a balancing act – from high level sports to Indigenous dancing, before pursuing his passion for film-making as a highly acclaimed writer, director and actor. Wayne inspires, leads and influences. He's hard-working and funny, and his conviction is unparalleled. His peers and audience find these traits positive and infectious, and they make him arguably one of the most prolific artists of our time. He is a friend – one I feel honoured to have. On a more personal level, I find Wayne very intriguing. His honesty and his genuine love of people and storytelling comes from deep within. It’s in his soul. Something that can’t be learned. A gift.
