‘A day in the life of Richard Lewer draws on real and imagined worlds. The boxing ring, dreaming scapes and endangered birds, among other anecdotal and worldly subjects, find a way into Richard’s artworks. I like the way he probes his psyche, making paintings, drawings and animations which are humble, whimsical and incisive. His works resonate with his everyday stories, but also reflect everyone’s stories. I wanted to make a picture with moments of Richard in the studio – in the format of an assemblage of working drawings – alternative views that reflect the diversity of Richard’s work and interests.’
Martin King is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist whose practice includes drawing, watercolour, printmaking, artist books and animation. His work is underpinned by an interest in the Australian landscape, making connections between land, sea and air.
