We are excited to announce that entries to the 2025 National Photographic Portrait Prize are now open. It is free to enter the Prize.
Entering its 18th year, the National Photographic Portrait Prize (NPPP) is one of the Gallery's most popular annual events. The prize provides a powerful visual record of the year that was - a celebration of identity, both collective and individual.

The Gallery is committed to supporting artists, so each selected finalist will receive:
In 2025, the winner will receive a prize of $30,000 and $20,000 worth of equipment courtesy of Imaging Partner Canon Australia, and Highly Commended will receive a prize pack from EIZO. The Art Handlers’ Award winner will receive $3000 courtesy of IAS Logistics and the People’s Choice Award winner will receive $10,000 courtesy of the Calvert-Jones Foundation.
All finalist artworks will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery from 16 August 2025.
Entries will close strictly at 9:00am AEDT on Friday 31 January 2025. There will not be a deadline extension this year.
