Not all love stories begin with love at first sight. In fact, it was quite the opposite for comedy duo Jane Turner and Gina Riley. Both seventeen when they met in a community theatre group, the pair went on to work on a number of Australian television productions, with their subsequent friendship growing into one of Australia’s most admired and adored creative partnerships. Jane and Gina are captured here in the guises of Kath Day-Knight and Kim Craig; hornbags and bogans par excellence, they’re the iconic title characters of much-loved Australian sitcom Kath & Kim. Turner and Riley’s creative talents in the show ushered now-iconic phrases into the Australian vernacular – from ‘It’s noyce, it’s different, it’s unusual’ to the irresistible exhortation, ‘Look at moy, look at moy!’
