Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at art and its transformative power. When you look at art slowly, you return to the moment, see more and make your own discoveries. This is when the magic happens!
On the day, meet at the Welcome Desk in the Gordon Darling Hall. Here you’ll be given a copy of selected portraits and prompts to guide your slow looking.
You’ll then head off on your own, choosing the order you want to see the artworks in. Remember to slow down and try to spend 5–10 minutes with each one!
At 11:15am one of our experienced staff will lead a discussion in front of each artwork, where those who are interested can share what they saw from their slow looking.
